Existing only within the dreams of a young girl named Alice, in a magical place known as Wonderland which can be accessed only by jumping ‘through the rabbit hole’, he is portrayed as a nonsensical, flamboyant man, and is further described as ‘mad’ by Cheshire Cat among others.

Astheticaly The Mad Hatter has pale skin, big orange coloured hair, and a wacky mix-matched outfit which includes a waistcoat and oversized top hat. Meanwhile, the Mad Hatter’s eyes have been portrayed as green in some appearances, and yellow for others. That said, in Burton’s live-action movies he is shown to have green eyes which turn a golden yellow when sad or angry. In this instance the effect was the result of Jonnny Depp wearing different sets of contacts as well as some nifty CGI work to create the appearance of oversized irises. Meanwhile, in the movie’s promotional imagery and posters he is pictured with one yellow eye and one green eye simultaneously.
